SAT., NOV. 3RD, 10AM-4PM: “TONG-LEN” OR “TAKING AND GIVING” COMPASSION MEDITATION
Within the Tibetan Tradition of Buddhist Meditation, the practice of “Tonglen” 0r “giving and taking” is particularly powerful and profound. Tonglen has become a popular meditation and form of spiritual cultivation, due to the teachings of Buddhist Nun, Pema Chodron and American author, Alice Walker. These meditation instructions guide us in developing the wish to take on and transform the suffering of all sentient beings, and in return give away all our own happiness and its causes. This is one of the most profound spiritual exercises in the Buddhist tradition to overcome the root of all our suffering: our self-cherishing mind. Rinpoche will introduce and explain these precious instructions and how they can be applied in our everyday life, as well as lead some group meditation and answer any questions.

SAT., NOV. 3RD, 7PM-9PM: CELEBRATION FOR ANILA ANN MACNEIL
A celebration of our beloved friend and teacher, Anila Ann Macneil, with stories and music by artist-musicians John Thompson and Brian Den Hertog . Open to all. By donation.

SUN., NOV. 4TH, 10AM-4PM: “LOJONG – TIBETAN BUDDHIST MIND TRANSFORMATION MEDITATION
Lojong (‘mind training or transformation’) is a very special set of instructions dating back to the 11th century in Tibet, practiced by yogins in the early Kadampa Tradition, known for their sincerity, simplicity, humility and compassion. Lojong is meant to incorporate all of our daily experiences (good and bad, on the meditation cushion and in our daily life) into our training in bodhicitta (the awakening mind of enlightenment). Lojong instructions transform our entire life into our spiritual training, and provide us with tools to transform any adverse situation or set of conditions into a perfect setting for deepening our spiritual practice. Rinpoche will give detailed teaching on this famed Buddhist subject.

TUES., NOV. 6TH, 7PM-9PM: THE THREE PRINCIPLE PATHS OF TIBETAN BUDDHISM I – RENUNCIATION
The founder of our Gelugpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, Je Tsongkhapa said that the foundation of all Mahayana Buddhism is the practice of the “Three Principle Paths of Renunciation, “Bodhicitta” or the awakening mind and the Wisdom realizing “Emptiness” or Ultimate Truth. During this visit, our precious Lama will be giving teachings on these three topics. On the 6th, Rinpoche will be teaching on “Renunciation”, our first virtue as Buddhists. Often misunderstood or misrepresented as a indifferent, passionless, nihilistic rejection of everything, Renunciation is rather the avowed ethical rejection of the root cause of suffering both to oneself and all others – this being our deep, habitual selfishness based on the wrong perception of the total separation between self and other.

THURS., NOV. 8TH, 7PM-9PM: THE THREE PRINCIPLE PATHS OF TIBETAN BUDDHISM II-III – “BODHICITTA”-THE AWAKENING MIND & “EMPTINESS”-ULTIMATE REALITY
In this talk Rinpoche will teach of the Principle Buddhist Paths of “Bodhicitta” or the awakening mind and the Wisdom realizing “Emptiness” or Ultimate Truth. He will show, through both teaching and led-meditation, the interrelation between these two topics – that the selflessness of love and compassion is both founded upon and voiced through the “selflessness” or interrelatedness of all phenomena
***
FRI., NOV. 9TH, 7PM-9PM: TANTRIC INITIATION OF WEALTH DEITY WHITE MAHAKALA
On Nov. 9th, our precious Lama will bestow the Tantric Initiation of Empowerment of the Buddhist Wealth Deity, White Mahakala. White Mahakala is an ancient archetypal Deity, embodying the the energy and values of compassion, wisdom, longevity, health and prosperity. The practice of White Mahakala increases wealth energy by directly countering the selfishness, greed and miserliness that are the causes of the external and internal feelings and conditions of scarcity and poverty.
***
SAT., NOV. 10TH, 10AM-4PM: TANTRIC CONSECRATION CEREMONY OF WEALTH DEITY WHITE MAHAKALA PROSPERITY VASES
On this day, our community will create traditional Tibetan Buddhist “Prosperity Vases”, full of precious healing and spiritual substances and energetically consecrate them through the ritual practice of White Mahakala.
***
SUN., NOV. 11TH, 10AM-4PM: GROUP TANTRIC MEDITATION OF WEALTH DEITY WHITE MAHAKALA AND PROSPERITY VASE PICK-UP
