We were 100 strong at Sati Saraniya Hermitage on September 14, 2013 to witness the Pabbajja, Going Forth from home to homelessness, of Samaneri Ahimsa as a 10-precept novice nun.

The occasion of her samaneri ordination was historic – the first to be held in the new Temple and in the presence of the Ubhato Sangha or Fourfold Assembly established by the Buddha nearly 2600 years ago, namely, monks, nuns, laymen and laywomen.

Attending the ceremony was Sister Ahimsa’s 24 year old daughter, Allison from Vancouver, who came especially to witness her mother’s momentous step of deepening her devotion and commitment to the Buddha’s teachings.
