Regina Insight Meditation Community presents a meditation retreat in Moose Jaw…
LIGHTENING THE HEART, BRIGHTENING THE MIND
with Howard Cohn
at Wood Acres Retreat Centre, Moose Jaw
November 13th to 17th, 2013 (Wednesday evening to Sunday noon)
Although our intrinsic nature is light and open, our tender hearts become burdened by the endless demands of both our ego and the myriad strategies to sooth ourselves that commonly increase our tension and cloud our minds.
Insight meditation and lovingkindness practices make it possible to reclaim our natural radiance, open our hearts, and increase our joy and happiness. Using time-tested methods of moment-to-moment loving attention, coupled with the support of silence, good company and teachings, we can satisfy the holy longing to be free.
Howard Cohn is a founding teacher of Spirit Rock Meditation Center in the San Francisco Bay area. He has guided a local sitting group (Mission Dharma) in San Francisco for more than 25 years, has led Vipassana retreats worldwide since 1985, and has a private practice as a psychotherapist. He incorporates the influences of Theravada, Zen, Tibetan Dzogchen and Advaita Vedanta in his teaching, with an emphasis on reawakening our intrinsic freedom. Among his many teachers and mentors are Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, U Pandita Sayadaw, Tulku Urgyen Rimpoche, Tsoknyi Rimpoche, and the Advaita Vedanta Master H.W.L. Poonja.
