Saw their poster on a lamp post in the Glebe neighbourhood, advertising a local meditation group. Dharma Punx is a loose network of Buddhist practitioners started by Noah Levine in Los Angeles, of particular interest to disaffected young people.
The local Ottawa group is peer-led and meets Sundays at 3 pm for 25 minutes of meditation followed by discussion. The current meeting place is in the Locan-Vencta church hall of St. Giles Church, at 174 First Avenue, 2nd floor. They can be contacted through their Facebook Page or via e-mail (dharmapunxottawa@hotmail.com).
Noah Levine is the son of Buddhist teacher Stephen Levine, and he has studied with Jack Kornfield and a number of prominent Buddhist teachers, in addition to holding a Masters degree in counseling psychology.
