Dear colleagues:
After ten years leading the Canadian Journal of Buddhist Studies Professor Suwanda Sugunasiri has decided to retire from the journal to pursue his own creative projects. We are grateful for his long-term commitment to Buddhist studies in Canada and look forward to further developing the journal under the leadership of a new editorial board. We are pleased too to be joined by Dr. Michael Berman of Brock University’s Department of Philosophy who continues his many years of service to the journal on the new board.
In 2016 we intend to publish the next edition of CJBS after a one-year hiatus used to build a new editorial board, reorganise and rethink the direction of the journal and plan for its future.
The Canadian Journal of Buddhist Studies is a scholarly peer-reviewed, open access, online publication covering all aspects of Buddhist studies. The editorial board recognises the inherently interdisciplinary and international nature of contemporary Buddhist studies and is open to submissions from scholars working in, but not limited to, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, history and religious studies. Articles may focus on any region or historical period. Scholars do not have to be affiliated with a Canadian university to submit an article.
We welcome articles on classical textual and intertextual analysis, including work on hagiography, Buddhist art, ritual, doctrinal questions and lineage formation, and work on contemporary Buddhist communities concerning, for example, the implications of fluid demographic transformations, cultural hybridity, and challenges associated with communal continuity of praxis and doctrine in a context of global mobilities.
The Canadian context is a key concern of CJBS. However, global realities of migration, rapidly changing mass media and telecommunications, and the associated ascendancy of mobilities perspectives in the social sciences necessitate inclusion of articles on Buddhists in countries other than Canada.

Book Reviews
Thanks to Dr. Amanda Goodman of the University of Toronto’s Department for the Study of Religion/Department of East Asian Studies who has agreed to join our editorial board as Book Review Editor. Dr. Goodman will be soliciting book reviews for the next edition of CJBS.
Canadian Buddhist Studies News Blog
I am in the process of completing a WordPress companion news blog for CJBS. The basic framework is already in place and I hope to send notice of its launch very soon. From there you are invited to join CJBS on Twitter.
Do you have graduate students who would be interested in becoming regular contributors to Canadian Buddhist Studies News? The blog will serve as a conduit for communication concerning new courses, graduate student research and publications, conferences and much more. Interested graduate students are welcome to contact me at pcrowe@sfu.ca.
Our archive of articles has yet to be moved to the new servers but is still accessible at http://jps.library.utoronto.ca/index.php/cjbs/index. Thanks for your patience. This transition has taken rather more time than anticipated.
