Buddhist Care working group formed in Toronto

Very recently, a Buddhist Care working group consisting of medical doctors, social workers, Buddhist monastics, palliative care volunteers, educators and community leaders and advocates has been formed in Toronto to support the creation of a referral list/network of Buddhist Care volunteers to help others-in-need within the formal health system in hospitals, hospices and nursing homes, as well as more informally with their own community and also to families and friends.

In order to ensure that the volunteers will receive proper training, the group will be organizing general and Buddhism-specific classes with the PalCare Network of York Region and Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto.

The PalCare Network classes will be held on consecutive Saturdays, three hours each afternoon, for ten weeks.

For further information or to join these classes, please call Ms Chris Ng at 416-910-4858 or e-mail wisdom.tor@rogers.com
