Dear Venerable Abbots, Venerable Abbesses and Temple Lay Representatives,
We, the three organizing temples (West End, Fo Guang and Ching Kwok Buddhist temples in Mississauga & Toronto) have the privilege of organizing Vesak: Buddha’s Birthday Celebration 2016 at the Mississauga Celebration Square on May 28, 2016. The venue is confirmed; the time is confirmed so this is a go event. We are inviting all Buddhist temples in the Greater Toronto Area, Peel, Halton, York and other regions to join us in this public event. Last three years this celebration went well with the participation of approximately 7000 people together with about 100 Buddhist monks and nuns of all Buddhist traditions and with the presence of Senators, federal and provincial Ministers, MPs, MPPs and members of the diplomatic corp. The organizing committee has called a meeting on Monday March 07, 2016 at 7 PM (sharp) at the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto located at 6525 Millcreek Dr., Mississauga, ON L5N 7K6. If you are coming to the meeting, please let us know your names and organizations. Please confirm your attendance by Monday March 1st, 2016 with our coordinators Michael Weldon (905-824-7647) or Lucy Chang (647-219-3128) by writing to vesakcelebration@gmail.com.
Our objectives for the meeting are to determine the level of your interest and discuss how we might cooperate within our objectives.
